RighToLight is a social enterprise based in Benin, West Africa with the mission to provide reliable, affordable, and environment-friendly energy to rural populations and transform lives. With the help of community members, we install microgrids that connect households and supply reliable energy they can afford for lighting, device charging and income-generating activities. Our goal aligns directly with the goal 7 of the SGG.
We also contribute to eight other closely related goals such as 1, 3, 4, 5, 8, 10, 11, 13. We believe that one of the best ways to fight poverty is to bring reliable and affordable energy to rural communities. Our solar microgrids help women increase profit through income generating activities. They also save money and time on the use dirty and deadly kerosene which negatively affects people’s well-being and the environment. With solar energy, children can study after dark, maintain better grades, and ultimately get a better education.
